Mark Colip, OD

Dr. Mark Colip serves as the President at Illinois College of Optometry (ICO). He received a BA in zoology from DePauw University, EMT-P from Methodist Hospital School of Paramedics, OD degree from Illinois College of Optometry and Residency education at Illinois Eye Institute in Chicago.

Prior to being appointed president, he chaired both the Admissions and Awards Committees at ICO for 25 years while serving as Dean of Student Affairs and in two Vice Presidential roles. He has held volunteer positions within the committee structures of both the American Optometric Association and the Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry. He has been a speaker at over 125 colleges and universities in North America regarding the advantages of a career in optometry as well as reflecting upon his travels abroad in delivering eye care in South and Central America and Haiti.

Dr. Colip is a passionate advocate for quality higher education and has served on accreditation visits to ten Doctor of Optometry programs in the US as well as chairing an international accreditation visit to the first Doctor of Optometry program in Saudi Arabia.
